Job Description

The Coordinator of Interprofessional Education (IPE) is responsible for coordinating the Interprofessional Education program for the core M.D. Program.  This position works collaboratively with counterparts at other health professions schools both within and outside the medical school to ensure a comprehensive curriculum in Interprofessional Education.  The Coordinator plans and integrates IPE project timelines, tracks IPE projects, is responsible for recognition and resolution of obstacles, and provides regular updates to all M.D. program curriculum committees, including the Medical Education Steering Committee (MESC).  The Coordinator will oversee the development of the overall IPE goals, objectives, learning outcomes and assessments for the core M.D. program curriculum, including pre-clerkship and clerkship activities. The coordinator will lead the Scholarly Concentration in IPE for the M.D. Program.  In this role, the coordinator will work to design a thoughtful scholarly concentration program, implement the program, and ensure students are meeting stated goals.  Additionally, the coordinator liases with the office of medical research to update this office on student progress and participate in the administration of the scholarly concentration.  The Coordinator also serves as the representative of the M.D. program on all UNR and NSHE Interprofessional Education Committees/Workgroups and is responsible for ensuring the M.D. Program complies with all applicable accreditation standards. Lastly, the coordinator serves to co-lead service learning experiences across all four eyars, ensuring these complies with all applicable accreditation standards.

 

The coordinator is also responsible for coordinating and integrating the activities of the Interprofessional Education program for the AHEC Scholars Program and in coordinating with UNR programs. In addition, the coordinator works with the three AHEC centers to support activities, online learning portal and in person training for Centers and AHEC Scholars.  This position will coordinate with schools, colleges and programs both within UNR and outside of UNR.  The position works with UNR Medical and other health professions students for clinical and didactic work.  The position will work with partners, AHEC centers in the implementation of the IPE goals, objectives and learning outcomes for the AHEC scholars.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate success in developing programs, understanding of educational concepts, ability to think creatively, and work collaboratively and flexibly with a variety of stakeholders (both internal and external). Clear and effective communication skills with medical students as well as faculty and educators is key. Demonstrated alignment with the vision, mission, and values of the School of Medicine include ability to work in a team-based environment, commitment to community and educational impact, and improve areas in need of development and innovation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and two years of related experience OR

Master's Degree and one year of related work experience

Related Experience:  

  • Placement Coordination Experience
  • IPE understanding and program development
  • On-line learning LMS experience
  • Accreditation standards and monitoring processes

Certification and Licensure:

Ability to obtain and maintain a Nevada Driver's License or provide alternative reliable flexible transportation throughout Northern Nevada

Schedule or Travel Requirements:  

Statewide travel will be required

National and regional meetings as beneficial to the position's goals

Total Compensation

The total compensation package includes a competitive salary, moving allowance (if applicable), a rich retirement plan, health insurance options that include dental and vision, life insurance, thirty (30) days of sick leave provided upon start date and two (2) days of sick leave accrued per full month after the first year of service, two (2) days of annual leave accrued each full month, along with many other benefits.
