Job Summary
 

Responsible for supporting the department in the development and management of a comprehensive travel preparedness and response strategy for international safety and security. Reviews and develops protocols and policies for education abroad programs and faculty travel, conducting threat analysis and providing feedback. Advises KSU international travelers related to traveler health, safety or security concerns. Assists with reporting and supports compliance with university policies, procedures, regulations, and standards to ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Monitors developing global incidents/conditions and traveler locations and recommends risk management protocols. Establishes international safety and security standards, policies, and guidelines and supports the development of best practices on global health and safety management.


Responsibilities
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - 
1. Manages travel registration and tracking of university international travelers
2. Monitors world affairs, researches and provides analyses of high-risk locations
3. Assists with data file maintenance, reporting, statistics and documentation regarding KSU international travel, incidents, and responses
4. Provides resources, support and education for international travelers
5. Supports and facilitates travel safety initiatives and training on behalf of the office
6. Promotes international risk management to relevant stakeholders and the campus community
7. Implements outreach to promote health, safety and security initiatives, including print and electronic materials
8. May provide assistance in the event of international incident or crisis, serving as a back-up first responder as needed to ensure full response
9. May assist with compliance for Clery, Title IX, VAWA or other regulatory processes
10. Performs administrative duties in support of department leadership


Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Two (2) years related work experience

Other Requirements
24/7 availability during emergency periods


Preferred Qualifications
 

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in a second language
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Experience with crisis management on international programs in higher education
Experience with project management, public speaking and professional presentations
Experience working with students in higher education
Previous administrative experience in higher education
Experience with Terra Dotta software (StudioAbroad)
Experience traveling, living and/or working abroad


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
 

ABILITIES
Able to respond to emergency situations outside of regular business hours, when necessary
Able to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and partner institutions from different backgrounds
Able to collaborate with campus stakeholders and serves as a spokesperson on matters of international health and safety
Able to provide 24/7/365 coverage for international emergencies when necessary
Able to support emergency response efforts while coordinating with multiple people/offices
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Maintains current knowledge of student governance compliance and monitors developing global incidents/conditions and traveler locations and changes in U.S. State Department Travel Advisories and worldwide health, safety and security alerts
Knowledge of risk management process, policies, procedures for international programs
Knowledge of student governance competencies and related USG policies
Knowledge of passports and visas
Knowledge of technology, social media, and data management techniques as it relates to study abroad
Knowledge of KSU, BOR and State of Georgia International Risk Management Policies
Familiar with concepts related to student rights and responsibilities/judicial affairs/due process and student code of conduct(s)
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
