Job Summary | The Program Coordinator is responsible for developing a variety of programs and services to facilitate campus internationalization. This includes providing comprehensive programs and services for all international students studying at the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) and supporting UAC and University of Utah (UofU) students in participating in various Learning Abroad opportunities. The Program Coordinator position will serve as the point of contact for all UAC students planning to participate in learning aboard opportunities and will handle student inquiries concerning visa regulations, program requirements, pre-departure steps, and re-entry. The Program Coordinator also prepares UAC students to study for their required year on the Salt Lake Campus (SLC), and as the point person for UAC students transitioning to the Salt Lake Campus, the Program Coordinator tracks student eligibility, facilitates all pre-departure programs, handles all inquiries about the transition process, and serves as the central liaison between UAC and SLC academic departments and on-campus units (including Housing & residential Education, Admissions, Registrars, International Student & Scholar Services, etc.). This position will report directly to the Assistant Dean of Students and contribute to student satisfaction with their collegiate experience by building a sense of campus community. |
Responsibilities | Campus Internationalization · Serve as the campus liaison for shepherding international partnerships. Education Abroad and International Students · Collaborate with the Salt Lake Campus to identify faculty-led programs available to UAC students and advise UAC students regarding Learning Abroad program selection, application, and pre-departure phases. · Develop and distribute program materials on the opportunities to study at the South Korea Campus with a desire to increase the number of study-abroad students. · Promote student involvement and study abroad opportunities through an active and up-to-date website, social media, and other methods. · Create and maintain relationships with external university partners to support learning abroad opportunities. · Provide UAC faculty support with developing faculty-led programs abroad. · Supervise and provide ongoing support for the International Student Diplomat program. · Provide support and serve as the main point of contact for international students studying at the UAC, including but not limited to: supporting students’ acculturation to the UAC by organizing the International Student Orientation, liaising with the UAC Enrollment Coordinator to provide D2 student visa assistance, enrolling international students in healthcare, etc. · Organize cultural excursions for domestic and international students. · Develop cross-cultural learning programming for UAC students. Salt Lake City Campus Transitioning · Ensure a smooth transition process for students between the two campuses; this will include providing workshops, one-on-one meetings, and student advocacy. · Be familiar with services and programs on the SLC campus and be able to respond or refer appropriately to student inquiries, particularly regarding: housing, counseling services (referrals), disability services (referrals), and student activities and career services. General/Miscellaneous · Remain knowledgeable of all programs offered at the UAC. · Maintain familiarity with university student information systems and learning management systems to access student information to provide assistance as required. · Maintain and evaluate data on student retention and work with academic program coordinators to improve retention efforts based on best practices. Regularly provide reports of data collected to the Assistant Dean of Students at UAC. · Work as a collaborative team member to provide seamless service to all students. · Other duties as assigned by the CAO and ADOS. |
Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), and two years related experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. |
