WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE


The Office of Instruction of Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks a qualified Coordinator-Early College Program (Grant Funded) to provide support at the college level to increase high school students’ participation and success in dual credit and dual enrollment programs. This work will involve coordinating class and student assignments and working with appropriate high schools to ensure that students are accurately informed and placed.


This position is funded by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) Access and Equity in Dual Credit grant. The proposed project activities of this grant funded initiative include: conducting a comprehensive assessment of current equity metrics within dual credit programs; organizing workshops for educators and administrators to enhance their understanding of the unique challenges faced by minority, first-generation, and low-income students in dual credit programs; hosting a series of professional development opportunities for current high school teachers; implementing targeted outreach campaigns to raise awareness about the benefits of dual credit programs; and enhancing comprehensive support services for dual credit students.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates college readiness testing procedures with participating secondary schools. This will include establishing on and off site testing procedures for the COMPASS exams and procedures for accessing testing information for enrollment purposes.
  • Coordinates with Marketing and Recruitment to enroll interested students in early college programs. This position will be responsible for driving enrollments at the colleges and helping them to hit their enrollment goals.
  • Converts dual enrollment and dual credit students into full and part-time students through enrollment events. This may include community events with an emphasis on the completion of FAFSA forms.
  • Completes reports related to compliance with Illinois Community College Board guidelines and fidelity to college standards for all dual credit, dual enrollment, and articulation initiatives with secondary institutions. Prepares internal and external communications regarding program services.
  • Serves as a liaison to College Advisors and secondary school counselors to ensure a clear, articulate, and predictable path to early college credit through dual credit, dual enrollment, and articulation initiatives.
  • Participates in the planning of professional development and mentoring activities between CCC faculty and secondary school instructors. Ensures fidelity to CCC standards when offering courses through off-site dual credit and course articulation.
  • Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
  • Performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Services, Public Policy, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred. Supplemented by three years of progressively responsible administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Proven organizational skills and supervisory ability.
  • Must be computer proficient with knowledge of a variety of software programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work well with employees at all levels of the organization as well as with students and other customers. Must be able to work well within a team.
  • Must be able to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be self-directed and innovative and able to assess current operations in an effort to improve the future goals of the District. Must be able to meet deadlines in timely manner. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between Wilbur Wright College and Humboldt Park Vocational Education Center, as needed.

This position is represented by Local 1600 Professional Union.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six (6) months of hire.
