Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Coordinator for the Disability Cultural Center at the University of Maryland. This position is responsible for fostering community among disabled students, serving as an advocate for the needs of undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities, and promoting the holistic development of students with disabilities. This role will work in partnership with colleagues to create an overview of programs and resources for the disabled student community.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required in disability justice, cultural studies, women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, critical race theory, sociology, student affairs, or a related field. 

Experience: 
  • Two years of professional and or graduate-level experience in student affairs work, or relevant work is required. 
  • Experience using universal design to develop and implement programs that teach a social model of disability and promote student learning about identity and intersectionality.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Sound judgment, maturity, commitment to disability justice, identity development knowledge, and passion for effecting change in dynamic, diverse environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Master’s degree required in a field of disability justice, cultural studies, women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, critical race theory, sociology, higher education, student affairs, or related fields.
  • Experience in advising cultural/or identity-based student organizations.
  • Experience working in disability-centered organizations. 
  • Experience and interest in working with students of color, first-generation students, undocumented students, LGBT-identified students, and multiple, intersecting identity student issues.
