Job Summary
The Office of Undergraduate Studies invites applicants for the position of Academic Program Coordinator with the Office of Undergraduate Research. The Office of Undergraduate Research provides undergraduate students and their research mentors with opportunities to collaborate on research and/or creative projects and is an integral part of the University of Utah’s commitment to ensuring a high-quality, meaningful college experience for every undergraduate student.
The Academic Program Coordinator will work closely with the Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research / Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, to organize and manage events related to undergraduate research at the University of Utah. Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for this position are to:

· Oversee daily program operations and coordinates program activities for scholarships and other programs as assigned. Program activities include recruiting faculty mentors, participating in the committee decisions regarding student selection, coordinating the early exploration scholars committee of reviewers, recruiting undergraduate researchers in their first 60 credits to apply for opportunities, and coordinating activities to award undergraduate researchers who are scholarship recipients. Support to coordinating other OUR programs, as assigned.
· Develop and implement program goals and objectives for undergraduate research experiences regarding Early Exploration Scholars Program. Monitors program quality and effectiveness and works with the associate dean / director to implement improvement methods and reporting.
· Assist with fundraising activities per the request of the associate dean/director. 
· Provide research coaching, also referred to as “research advising”, to undergraduate researchers and inquiring undergraduate students. 
· Coordinate orientations, research tours, and activities supporting OUR activities.
· Handle logistics of submissions and publication for Range: Undergraduate Research Journal in collaboration with the associate dean / director. 
· Coordinate the logistics of OUR’s donor-based scholarships by promoting scholarship opportunities, coordinating committee of reviewers, onboarding scholarship recipients in in partnership with the office of advancement, and following up with scholarship recipients surrounding their progress.
· Promote opportunities with undergraduate research.
· Coordinate with OUR staff regular updates about OUR events and opportunities to the larger OUR community including the OUR newsletter regarding early exploration scholars and general research scholarship opportunities.
· Coordinate meetings, orientations, volunteer hours, and logistics for the Undergraduate Research Leaders who provide seminal support for the OUR. Provides mentorship and support to OUR leaders.
· Work in collaboration with marketing and communication to ensure timely production of printed and electronic marketing materials for Early Exploration Scholars and other scholarships provided by the office.
· Provide support to OUR outreach activities; outreach activities are those that increase student awareness of OUR opportunities through classroom presentations, tabling support, and other activities assigned. 
· May assign, direct and review work of support staff (students hired by the office).
· Support undergraduate research program, activities, and opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
