Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Coordinator of Competitive Sports will provide strategic oversight, creative support, and supervision to the department's efforts toward providing excellent competitive sports programs. The main focus for this position will be overseeing Intramural Sports, with a secondary focus on Club Sports and a tertiary focus on Esports.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree is required. Degree in Recreation Management or a related field is preferred. Master's Degree preferred.
Experience: One year of supervisory experience. Graduate Assistantship may count toward experience.
Licensure & Certifications: First Aid, CPR and AED Instructor Certified, or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Job Duties:
- 60% - Oversee the design, implementation, management, evaluation, delivery, and expansion of Intramural Sports at Eastern Kentucky University. Focusing on staff development, creating a welcoming and fun environment for participants and being involved with NIRSA at the Regional and National Level. This includes preparing student staff to be officials and volunteers at Regional and National Tournaments as well as preparing teams to be sent to these tournaments. This roles primary function will be overseeing and managing the Intramural Sports program and will have full reign on the direction and implementation of the program. - (Essential)
- 30% - Working with the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports to oversee and manage Eastern Kentucky Universities many different club sports on campus. Currently, there are 19 club sports with varying levels of competitiveness and involvement. This position will be assigned a handful of Club Sports to manage with the assistance of the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports. They will assist the club with scheduling practice, games and anything related to the financials of the club. - (Essential)
- 5% - Assisting with the management of the Esports Lounge and team. Currently, Eastern Kentucky University has an Esports staff of about 25 students who oversee the lounge and work on the broadcast team. This program will mainly fall under the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports but there will be opportunity for this position to work with this program area. - (Essential)
- 5% - Other duties as assigned by other members in the department. Eastern Kentucky University has a great of culture of helping others, and it is expected for this position to continue that. When other departments within campus recreation (and even outside of campus recreation) put on big events, we are always there to help in whatever way we can. - (Essential)
