The Content Developer, Brand & Production will support the mission of the Marshall School of Business through marketing communications that build awareness and reputation of the school. This is an entry-level position on the Marshall marketing & communications team.

This position creates engaging, strategically aligned content that enhances the Marshall School of Business brand across channels. Reporting to the Associate Director, Brand Management, this role plans, produces, and distributes content to reach the school's diverse audiences.

The Content Developer, Brand & Production assists with content creation, development, and distribution including:

  • Generating New Content: Developing scripts/storyboards, posts, emails, web assets. Serving as ad hoc photographer/videographer to cover school events.

  • Managing Content Production: Assist with planning, production scheduling for professional shoots and video days.

  • Supporting Channels: Updating digital screens and DAM system. Sourcing images for newsletters and website.

  • Sourcing Assets: photography, videography, graphics, and imagery.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for visual, written, and audio storytelling, as well as strong attention to detail to maintain brand compliance. Professional experience in planning, developing, and distributing communications materials is essential. Background in production planning and project management working with creative partners and agencies is preferred.

This position is located on USC’s main campus and has a hybrid work schedule with 3-4 days per week on site, specifically to cover photography, production, and events coverage.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Create engaging, visually appealing communications content (videos, social posts, talking points) tailored to audiences and platforms.

  • Produce and edit content that meets deadlines, effectiveness standards, style guidelines, and best practices of inclusivity, accessibility, and representation.

  • Analyze content performance and refine approaches as needed.

  • Manage digital assets across platforms: upload, tag, and catalog photo/video content. Apply best practices for metadata, alt text, SEO, photo cropping.

  • Support production days and shoots as the key contact for scheduling and planning.

  • Capture photography and videography at events, edit and curate.

  • Develop photography/videography skills.

  • Source creative assets, logos, and templates to fulfill requests.

  • Support editorial team with images for news and publications, update digital screens and website with fresh content.

  • Gather insights into stakeholder needs and seek ongoing feedback.

  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with departments and faculty.

  • Monitor audience sentiment and industry trends.

  • Foster an inclusive culture aligned with ethics and strategic priorities.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as communications or design

  • Five years work experience in content development, communications, design, video editing.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and relationship- building abilities.

  • Demonstrated project management, problem-solving and organizational skills, able to effectively manage priorities, deadlines and resources in a timely manner.

  • Able to brainstorm and evaluate ideas collaboratively.

  • Experience editing digital assets and managing a digital asset management system.

  • Experience with using website content management systems (CMS)

  • Experience in production project management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

  • Minimum Experience: 2 years

  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Public relations, journalism, advertising or related field.

Minimum Field of Expertise:

  • Three years experience in communications, content development and writing/editing in employee/internal corporate communications.

  • Demonstrated design/typography experience.

  • Proven knowledge of writing and editing fundamentals and Associated Press style. Ability to tailor content to fit targeted audiences with a clear, demonstrated understanding of multichannel communication platforms.

  • Experience with design software/tools (e.g., HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite) creating assets for digital environments (e.g., WordPress, social media, search and display advertising).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to provide detailed information and summaries to peers and supervisors, exercising discretion with confidential information.

  • Ability to build and deliver solutions that consistently meet customer expectations.

  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to proactively, independently, strategically and creatively make decisions.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to provide support and guidance as needed.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and content management systems.

Hourly Range:

"The hourly rate range for this position is $36.64 - $46.06.
