Job Summary

The Operations Intern for the Summer Conference will work with the Drexel Conference Services staff during the spring/summer terms, supervised by the Associate Director of Conference Services. The Intern position requires high energy, flexibility, dedication, and a willingness to have fun and be creative in a fast-paced environment!

Essential Functions

  • Work with the Summer Conference Co-op (Assistant) to supervise Conferences and manage the Conference schedule.
  • Cooperate with other staff by being consistent and assertive in enforcing the residence hall and university policies.
  • Follow procedure and document all problems, concerns, and violations of residence hall and university policies.
  • Oversee the entire conference linen inventory.
  • Oversee key inventory and process charges for lost and replaced keys.
  • Coordinate cleaning of rooms with facility and custodial staff.
  • Act as reference point for group leaders.
  • Oversee the additional facilities / spaces which may be rented out or used by attending groups / individuals.
  • Coordinate room set up and breakdown for all conference groups/individuals, including:
    • Conduct a room inventory.
    • Place appropriate supplies in the room.
    • Prepare towels and linens and blankets on beds with pillows.
    • Conduct inventory on linens, supplies, and towels in each room.
    • Remove used towels and linens from rooms and taking them to designated areas.
    • Assessing any damage to rooms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to be team player, customer service oriented, and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule working evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Ability to innovate to improve and streamline daily operations.
  • Proficiency with computer software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management).
  • Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking program.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, stoop.

Additional Information

This is a full-time Temporary position classified as non-exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
