The HDFCCC Academic is seeking for a Community Partnerships Program Manager directs relevant activities under the jurisdiction of the Associate Director of Community Engagement at the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC).
The Program Manager is the first point of contact for high level academic and research activities and initiatives involving the Office of Community Engagement (OCE). The OCE at the HDFCCC consists of a group of staff, community advisors, research administrators and education partners who:
* Sustain community engagement
* Disseminate cancer information across the 25-county catchment area
* Facilitate academic-community partnerships for research and service
* Advocate for institutional policies to address the social determinants of cancer

The Academic- Community Partnerships Program Manager (Program Manager) is responsible for
* developing and maintaining relationships with academic stakeholders;
* managing leadership events and activities;
* providing high-level academic support to leadership and faculty;
* supporting other initiatives and activities;
* ensuring Research Program priority-setting in alignment with the issues in the HDFCCC catchment area; and
* coordinating activities of the OCE at the intersection between community partners, academic investigators and cancer center members.
The Academic-Community Partnerships Program Manager will work collaboratively with the Program Manager for Community Engagement in the OCE to staff the Joint Advisory Committee (the steering committee for the OCE) as meeting members represent both academic, community and strategic partners.

The Program Manager must have the capacity to independently interface with many and diverse individuals representing UCSF departments, centers, and other entities, as well as those outside UCSF in the community, other institutions, businesses, and government; navigating these relationships will require a high level of political savvy. These relationships will inform the decisions the Program Manager will make regarding new initiatives, policies, and procedures, as well as his/her ability to implement and create programs to support community-engaged research within the HDFCCC.

The Program Manager oversees leadership activities relevant to the COE, with formats to include planning meetings, working groups, and retreats.
The Program Manager will make decisions on the format and timing of events; create agendas, reports, and presentations for events with minimal input from the Associate Director and other leadership; identify and communicate with UCSF and external participants; capture minutes and provide follow-up communication; and recommend and implement next steps and solutions. The incumbent will also oversee all planning of COE-related scientific events that include the broader research community, including seminars, symposia, and retreats.

The Program Manager will provide academic support to leadership and faculty for activities that relate to overall HDFCCC goals related to community engaged research, including independent literature review and grant, manuscript, and presentation preparation. The incumbent will be expected to be an expert in current developments, research, and initiatives in community engagement, both at UCSF and in the broader community. The incumbent will develop a deep understanding of the structure and scope of community engagement activities at UCSF and partnering entities in order to advise leadership, ensure adequate resources for program activities, direct stakeholders to the appropriate source(s) for information, and ensure decisions are made in line with HDFCCC priorities and goals.
The incumbent will lead efforts with the Associate Director during the annual Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) non-competing renewals and the five-year competing renewal to draft language describing COE activities and initiatives as they relate to CCSG requirements and the HDFCCC.
The CCSG is awarded by the National Cancer Institute and is the major source of federal funding for the HDFCCC. Receiving this grant also denotes our Comprehensive Cancer Center status and supports the infrastructure costs of HDFCCC administration and offices, including the COE.
The Program Manager will facilitate activities that increase the responsiveness of HDFCCC research to the needs and cancer burden in the catchment area. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the staff managing community partnerships to ensure integration of community engagement across all programmatic and project-based research activities of the COE.
***NOTE: This is a part-time role (20 hours/week).
