Unit Mission Statement | The Office of University Communications serves as the central communications office for the university. In this role, the office serves as the primary link to the press and media on all communications fronts and coordinates university-wide promotional and public relations efforts. The Content and Strategy team produces online W&M News features and campus photography, coordinates internal communications and manages top-level social media platforms for William & Mary. The aim of the office is to highlight and celebrate the work of faculty, staff and students and to promote and amplify the overall vision, mission and brand of William & Mary. |
Position Summary | This position serves as a writer, both in beat areas on campus and on general assignment, and works with our Media Relations team to pitch faculty as experts to local, regional and national news outlets. Additional duties may include editing and posting stories for W&M News and working with the entire University Communications team on special projects, major events, analytics and crisis management as needed. |
Conditions of Employment | This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor. |
