The Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives (GSI) and its component units (International Student and Scholar Services, the Halle Institute for Global Research, Global Safety and Security, Atlanta Global Partnerships, and Global Services) work to enhance and promote Emory’s global engagement. GSI supports creative global initiatives, cultivates cross-unit collaboration, promotes a culturally dynamic and diverse campus, and coordinates Emory's international resources and partnerships.

 

The Communications Manager is responsible for the integrated communication and promotion of GSI programs and services and collaborates with others to develop and implement programs and communications materials for targeted audiences which enhance awareness and utilization of GSI programs and services. They create effective promotional materials including articles, brochures, forms and flyers. They design, oversee and update the GSI website to educate and to promote activities and programs.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Develops web content strategy, and performs management and analysis (through Google Analytics, etc.), using Cascade, Drupal, or other content management systems, and copywriting, editing, and technical writing.
  • Conducts email and social media marketing of events and initiatives using mechanisms such as Contact Monkey, Trumba, Zoom meetings and webinars, X (formally Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, Canva, etc.; requires staying current with trends and best practices and monitoring key metrics.
  • Leads internal promotion and story development to advance Emory’s global strategy and advocate for the inclusion of global priorities in university publications and presentations.
  • Prepares presentations and strategic communication materials which may involve using graphic design tools such as Microsoft Suite, Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
  • Manages multiple editorial calendars.
  • Liaises with other Emory offices such as Communications and Marketing, Office of the Provost, etc.
  • Handles media relations including writing press releases and news articles for both internal Emory and external audiences.
  • Researches constituents' satisfaction with divisional programs and services.
  • Develops reports and recommendations to sustain high quality.
  • Leads projects as assigned.
  • Serves as an internal marketing consultant for programs and services.
  • Duties may include: managing a budget; assisting in evaluating, measuring, and responding to issues related to the quality of services provided; conducting evaluations, surveys and focus groups to assist in quality improvement efforts; supervising or providing direction to staff, and managing various aspects of social media activities.
    Performs related responsibilities as required.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
