The Communications Coordinator will provide a variety of communications and marketing support to the College of Business through program coordination and projects. The position supports the implementation of the department's strategic communications and marketing plan by researching, creating, and implementing effective and innovative communications and marketing including original publications, marketing materials, articles, graphics, briefing materials, web content, press releases, social media content and employee messaging. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications but will also work directly with faculty and other staff within the College of Business, as well as with personnel in other areas of campus as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinates the RCOB Communications and Marketing Plan with oversight by Director:

Supports communications and marketing activities designed to create and maintain a favorable public image for the College of Business; manages the Rollins College of Business portion of the CRM and assists with recruiting participants for the college's undergraduate, graduate, certificate, leadership, and summer programs; assists with coordination and creation of the Rollins College of Business e-newsletter and with a variety of other internal communications; helps plan and direct the development and communication of information designed to keep public informed on College of Business programs, accomplishments, or point of view; works with the Director of Marketing and Communications to prepare and distribute fact sheets, news releases, photographs, scripts, and video to media representatives and other persons who may be interested in learning about or publicizing departmental activities or messages; researches data, generates ideas, writes copy, lays out artwork, takes photographs, or contacts media representatives; and responsible for maintaining contact lists, tracking department expenditures, managing promotional and printed materials.

Responsible for the management of the website and social media channels for the Rollins College of Business:

Supports the Director of Marketing and Communications, Dean, Associate Deans, faculty and staff to develop, design and maintain the overall Rollins College of Business website and sub sites for affiliated departments and groups; coordinates the editorial and event calendars, creates content, maintains the College of Business brand and is responsible for the day-to-day content creation and monitoring for a variety of social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and others; given authority to make decisions related to responding to questions and other feedback on social media platforms, reports unusual problems to manager; and directs student workers in creating web, social media, and other content for the Rollins College of Business.

Event planning, support, and coordination:

In support of college activities and events, assists with planning, coordination and execution of special events such as (but not limited to) Rollins Day, lectures and presentations, RCOB Hall of Fame, Veterans Entrepreneurship Program, Student Recognition Ceremony, and other events; participates in the event planning process and serves as the lead on some events; and manages the creation of registration, electronic and printed invitations and setting up events using constituent management platform, creating and managing invitation lists, writing and designing programs and other event materials, event promotion, event tracking, etc.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Organization skills, and ability to multi-task while prioritizing work to meet deadlines

  • Ability to handle urgent matters while staying on task with other assigned duties and responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or related field and one to three years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, website design/management, or other related fields. Specialized training in a communications or marketing field may substitute for experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Social media strategy and content creation; experience with CRM and website management; email marketing; copy writing for a variety of audiences; knowledge of the Adobe Design Suite (particularly InDesign, PhotoShop, and Illustrator), Camtasia, and photography skills are a plus.
