The University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is a nationally renowned leader in the field of health care education, research, and clinical practice preparation. SHRS has 13 different disciplines related to health and rehabilitative care. We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Communications and Marketing Coordinator in the SMARTech for Paralysis Hub and the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR)’s Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) on Wireless Technology for People with Disabilities , within the Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology (RST) in Pittsburgh, PA.

In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for disseminating information and knowledge about our research to various audiences, promoting our work to raise its profile and reputation, engaging with stakeholders including individuals with disabilities, families, caregivers, social and health service providers, and disability organizations, and providing support to the research teams for their communication needs. Occasional travel related to dissemination and outreach activities may be required. A hybrid work schedule can be considered. 



Job Summary

Develops moderately complex web and print content and marketing. Acts as strategic contributor for communications team and creates diverse marketing materials for marketing team. Attends meetings designed for content planning and development. Ensures consistent messaging and maintains University brand and style.


Essential Functions 

Create engaging digital content (e.g., graphics, animations, schematics, newsletters, infographics, and videos) to support stakeholder engagement, translation of research findings, and training activities for diverse audiences. Effectively communicate about technical accessibility issues with team members. Completion of tasks requires consultation and collaboration with research teams, external partners, advisory groups, and representatives from departments and schools.

 Dissemination:

• Share our findings and news with specific audiences such as academics, industry and healthcare professionals, disability organizations, or the public.

• Develop and execute a social media strategy to engage with the audience and share regular updates.

• Regularly update the website with news, articles, and resources.

• Create and distribute a monthly newsletter.

 Marketing:

• Collaborate with relevant university/school personnel to enhance our visibility.

• Craft and distribute press releases and articles for media.

• Develop promotional materials that showcase our work and impact.


Physical Effort 

This position is mainly sedentary requiring use of a computer, telephone, and other common office resources. At times, the incumbent will be required to travel for dissemination and outreach activities.
