Department Summary
The Institute for Health Disparities (IHD) conducts research, training and community outreach in the areas of minority health, health disparities and workforce diversity. Constituting the IHD are the Texas Center for Health Disparities, National Research Mentoring Network, Texas CEAL Consortium, Diversity Training Programs and the NIMHD Endowment. 
Position Overview
In this hands-on position, the candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting the external and internal communication of AIM-AHEAD Consortium.

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Duties


o
Develop a social media strategy and implement the strategy for the AIM-AHEAD program
o
Write and/or edit talking points, speeches, and presentations
o
Provide strategic leadership in identifying media/communications for targeted audiences
o
Engage stakeholder groups through webinars, podcasts and other promotional means
o
Utilizing strategic objectives in communications, plans and develops content for the website to effectively promote AIM-AHEAD
o
Provide input to select appropriate representatives to respond to internal/external communications requests and prepare representatives for media interaction
o
Proactively seek interesting news and stories from AIM-AHEAD coordinating center and Programs based on current topics, research findings, and encourage participants to submit story ideas and articles for the website, newsletter, and other outreach endeavors
o
Arrange and facilitate press conferences and media coverage of events, as needed
o
Coordinate media outreach on new program launches or innovative initiatives, as necessary
o
Work with Project Management Office to coordinate communications
