Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a Communication Specialist! The Communication Specialist is pivotal in facilitating effective communication between the financial aid office, scholarship programs, and the student body. This position is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies to disseminate crucial information regarding financial aid opportunities, scholarships, deadlines, and application processes. The specialist serves as a liaison between various departments, ensuring that students have access to accurate and timely information to support their educational pursuits.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans to effectively convey information related to financial aid and scholarship opportunities to students, prospective students, and parents. Collaborate with the financial aid team to identify communication objectives and target audiences. Utilize data analytics tools to track the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns. Generate regular reports and insights to assess student engagement, identify areas for improvement, and inform decision-making.

  • Conduct outreach activities, workshops, and informational sessions to educate students about available resources and application processes. Collaborate with internal departments, including admissions, student services, and academic advising, to coordinate messaging and initiatives that support student success. Primary point of contact to schedule outreach events.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor’s degree, plus one year of marketing/design experience OR a combination of relevant education and experience totaling five years.


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Knowledge          

  • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and policies is desirable.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database,
  • power point, internet tools, email systems, and other general computer skills.
  • Experience working in higher education, particularly in financial aid, student affairs, or
  • related areas.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including email marketing
  • software, social media management tools, and content management systems.
Skills      
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for
  • various audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple
  • projects simultaneously and meet deadline.
