Job Summary:

Job Summary:

This full-time position is responsible for providing outreach, curricular programming, and onboarding of Underrepresented Minorities (URM) undergraduate students interested in a healthcare career and health professional mentors for these students as well as didactic curriculum development and delivery to assist URM students in matriculating into their health care career graduate schools of choice. These include but are not limited to careers in MD/DO, RN, APP (PA, NP), PT/OT, Dentistry, Pharmacology, Hospital Administration, and Public Health. As a skilled writer, storyteller, and content creator, this individual will oversee content strategy and produce a wide range of multimedia content for distribution across the website, newsletters, and social media channels. This position will actively assist with the Colorado Area Health Education Center (COAHEC) Program Office marketing and social media requirements. This position will be required to work occasional nights and/or weekends.

Supervision Received:

  • Works closely with the Director of Colorado AHEC Program Office, team members, and regional Colorado AHECs and reports to the Finance Administrator of Colorado AHEC Program Office.

Specific Job Duties:

Pathway Programming: (75%):

  • This position with works closely Colorado Area Health Center Program management in providing the following services:
  • Design, Develop, and Implement Programs and Curriculum as planned with the Director of COAHEC.
  • Recruit and train student employees and student/staff volunteers.
  • Recruit presenters, volunteers, and educators as needed for program activities.
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard, URM undergraduate students interested in healthcare careers.
  • Recruit practicing health professionals as mentors.
  • Work with Data entry and data extraction for preparing reports.
  • Supervise graduate and undergraduate employees.
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate the undergraduate school program, maintaining current records on student participation and alumni progression towards a career in health care, and assisting participants with college transition, as well as connecting to office undergraduate or other key pathway/pipeline programs. 
  • Assist with administrative and coordinative support to the Undergraduate Pre-Health Program, a program that places undergraduate student interns in shadowing environments at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus.
  • Plan and coordinate workshops and summer programs with additional collaborations efforts working with key on/off-campus personnel. Some programs may have to be scheduled on the weekends.
  • Assist with other pathway duties as needed.

General Operational Management (25%):

  • Work with COAHEC Team to place orders using appropriate purchasing procedures, adhering to purchasing guidelines and requirements, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Respond to in-person, written, and telephone requests from students, applicants, colleagues, and other university personnel.
  • Assist in resolving faculty, staff, students, and walk-in concerns.
  • Answer straightforward questions where possible and provide information about the University, the offices, its programs, deadlines, and processes, etc.
  • Determine proper referrals within the offices and University as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with staff within the offices to identify opportunities to improve processes and implement plans.
  • Develop and implement our marketing strategy for social media, for various target audiences, across different platforms, (Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, etc.)  to create COAHEC Programs awareness, increase online presence and improve marketing/outreach efforts. Use relevant social media marketing tools.
  • Collaborate with relevant team members to write, edit, publish, and share engaging & informative content regularly (e.g. original text, photos, videos, and news).
  • Develop metrics to capture data to measure the response of every social media campaign.
  • Remain up to date with the latest digital technologies and social media trends.
  • Monitor SEO, and user engagement and suggest content optimization for programs and target audiences.
  • Additional related tasks as assigned by the supervisor and or the Director of the Colorado AHEC Program Office.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, science, arts, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience in marketing, including social media, content creation through storytelling, email marketing, and/or related field. 
  • The position requires at least one (1) year of experience in program management in pipeline programing and undergraduate students being mentored in a healthcare setting.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be able to occasionally travel within Colorado to undergraduate institutions, College Fairs, AHEC events and meetings with/at AHEC Regional offices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, or communications from an accredited college or university.
  • Direct marketing experience related to product marketing, campaign planning, digital marketing, messaging, positioning, and/or copywriting.
  • Experience working in an institution of higher education.
  • Experience using CRM databases, CMS systems, and developing content for web.
  • Demonstrated experience in the professional use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and the internet.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Cloud (Photoshop, Publisher, InDesign) or related design software, Cascade Server, or other web content software.
  • Experience overseeing and managing a budget.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience with program management in an academic medical and/or research setting.
  • Current professional teaching license.
  • Experience with grant writing.
  • Experience in social justice and community Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) work.
  • Experiencing in recruitment and hiring of students, student employees, and temps including media marketing.
  • Experiencing managing a wellness program for the public health and wellness of students.

    The hiring range for this position has been established at $70,551 to $89,741.
