Job Description Summary

The Colleague Developer/Administrator will maintain the University Ellucian Colleague ERP system by providing best practice preventative maintenance, development, and management. Supports all client SQL databases related to Ellucian applications; Colleague, self-service, data extracts, patches and upgrades, and related products.


Job Description

The duties and responsibilities of the Colleague administrator/developer include:

  • Provide oversight of the review, installation, configuration, development and administration of the Colleague system.
  • Demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and self-starter with a can-do attitude.
  • Working with end users to understand business processes and then working to help end users become more efficient and effective utilizing the Ellucian Colleague ERP system.
  • Consulting with users to gather information about needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.
  • Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interface with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
  • Write and maintain technical specifications.
  • Consult directly with users to help solve business challenges
  • Develop and maintain plans outlining steps and timetables for development tasks.
  • Create test transactions and runs tests to find errors and confirm the changes meet specifications.
  • Disaster recovery, including database backups and recovery.
  • Strong analytical and communications skills required
  • Provide user training on the Colleague ERP functions.

Minimum Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems (or equivalent)
  • At least four (4) years experience working in an information technology position and two (2) years higher education experience.
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague Student and Finance modules required
  • Experience administering Colleague with UniData RDMS and/or SQL highly desired
  • Must have a minimum of at least four (4) years Unidata Colleague, Self Service and Colleague Studio development experience.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of analysis, administration and programming in the Ellucian Colleague platform.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Experience with SoftDocs Etrieve
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud and Entra AD
  • General knowledge of APIs and 3rd party Colleague system integrations and tools
  • Ellucian Ethos API configuration and administration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server desired

The candidate selected for this position may work remotely subject to an approved remote work agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a University provided computer. Candidate may, on occasion, be required to report to campus due to operational needs for meetings, trainings, or other activities.
