The Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC) at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine seeks to recruit a Co-Director, Tenured or Tenure Track, for a full-time position.

 

The Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC), an Organized Research Center of the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM), is internationally renowned. The MPRC is dedicated to providing treatment to patients with schizophrenia and related disorders, educating professionals and consumers about schizophrenia, and conducting basic and translational research into the manifestations, causes, and treatment of schizophrenia.  The Co-Director will play a vital role in advancing these critical missions, fostering innovation and collaboration to enhance the MPRC's impact on mental health care.

 

Essential Functions:

·         Co-lead and manage operations and functions of the MPRC.

·         Set and execute the scientific vision and strategy of the MPRC, which includes an Outpatient Research Program, Treatment Research Program (including a 24-                bed inpatient unit), Neuroscience Program (including the Maryland Brain Collection), and the

          University of Maryland Center for Brain Imaging Research.

·         Lead and manage MPRC with innovation, forward-thinking, and open communication.

·         Preserve and maintain MPRC's culture of collaboration between researchers and clinical staff.

·         Improve MPRC's culture and environment regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion through hiring practices and awareness.

·         Increase collaboration and partnerships between MPRC and academic departments at the School of Medicine, UMB, UMBC, and other external organizations.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A doctorate degree in Medicine or equivalent is required.

Experience: Leadership and strategic thinking in managing research center operations; success in scientific vision and strategy execution; oversight of diverse research programs including outpatient and inpatient units; innovative leadership with effective communication; cultivating collaborative culture; promoting diversity and inclusion; and building collaborations and partnerships with academic and external partnerships are required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Knowledge of operations and functions management in a research center.

·         Skills in developing and executing scientific visions and strategies.

·         Ability to oversee diverse research programs, including outpatient and inpatient units.

·         Skills in innovative leadership and effective communication.

·         Ability to promote and maintain a collaborative culture among researchers and clinical staff.
