Job Description

The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Idaho State University is searching for a core faculty member for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This is a full-time, 12-month, appointment at the level of assistant professor or higher, academic, commensurate with experience. This opportunity is for a tenure or non tenure track to commensurate with experience. Candidates with academic terminal degrees may negotiate for a tenure-track position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Education: organize and manage clinical rotations for the DPT program
  • Teaching: teach courses related to the fundamentals of physical therapy, contribute to other program education needs
    Service: serve on program, department, college, and/or university committees, engage in professional and community service in area of expertise
  • Scholarship/Research: engage in scholarly activity to further promote the advancement of knowledge of Physical Therapy, engage in interdisciplinary scholarship activities
  • Advising: provide student advising
  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside constituents and professional associations
  • Maintain significant communication and contact with students regarding their clinical education
  • Develop, organize, and deliver course content as assigned related to clinical expertise in line with the program curriculum, which may include coordination and collaboration with other faculty to assure curriculum cohesiveness
  • Develop and conduct a scholarly agenda that includes serving as an advisor for student research and capstone projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal professional DPT degree or other doctoral degree
  • Possess or be eligible for an active license in Physical Therapy in the United States and in the State of Idaho
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering a diverse and inclusive educational environment
  • Demonstrated effectiveness when working in teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced academic doctorate degree (PhD, DSc, EdD, etc.)
  • Teaching and/or research/scholarship in the areas of neurology, geriatrics, or other specialties
  • APTA Specialist Certification or other specialist certification
  • Evidence of contribution to curriculum design and evaluation related to clinical education
  • Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
  • Evidence of scholarship/research

Additional Information

Salary will be between $80,000 - $85,000 (non-tenure track) $85,000 - $95,000 (tenure track) per year, commensurate with education and experience.
