This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote.

The Center for Multimodal Imaging and Genetics (CMIG) is a multi-disciplinary group of scientists, programmers, and support staff that plays a leading role in several national and multinational initiatives involving collection and analysis of imaging, genetic, and behavioral data from healthy controls and patient populations.

CMIG hosts multiple large research programs. One of the large and long-term studies is the Data Analysis and Informatics Center (DAIC) of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study, an ongoing, National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded study to follow ~12,000 children with longitudinal neuroanatomical, functional imaging and behavioral assessments across 21 sites within the US.

CMIG is an interdisciplinary group of scientists and clinicians who study the human body using a variety of imaging, recording, and computational techniques. Our goal is to bridge non-invasive imaging technologies to the underlying physiology of the human body.

Under general supervision, the CMIG Study Coordinator will serve as a member of the ABCD study, and all other research programs that are hosted within CMIG, will serve as a point of contact to answer questions and provide general advice on UCSD Policy matters for all Center members. Researches general topics, consults with HRPP staff, and makes recommendations to senior leadership as needed. Coordinates and administers research study associated activities. Assists in project planning, and ensures that pre-established work scope, study protocol, and regulatory requirements are followed. Acts as liaison for research sponsors and research participants, Develops and maintains record-keeping systems and procedures. May serve as liaison between the program/service office and outside agencies and the general public. The coordinator will also provide administrative support to the director of the CMIG and the CMIG operations.

  • Six years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.

  • Independence, planning and decision-making abilities to complete assigned duties. Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. Strong decision-making skills and ability to use independent judgment to quickly set priorities and to solve problems. Ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, recommend solutions, determine and implement procedures to accomplish effective resolution, and evaluate results or progress. Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to unexpected events.

  • Knowledge of relevant Federal and State regulations, and policies. Ability to stay up to date on relevant regulatory issues, changes, and revisions to policy that are required for current job.

  • General understanding of IRB research plans and creating informed assent/consent documents that comply with HRPP policies and procedures, DHHS regulations, and sponsor requirements.

  • Ability to work in a team oriented setting, to prioritize work, and to follow through on routine assignments with minimal direction.

  • Ability to solve problems, issues; listen, interpret and confirm understanding of others' communications; and be objective.

  • Experience in handling invoices, payments and other accounting tasks.

  • Ability to understand regulatory and research concepts. Experience in expressing such content into succinct copy for reports, correspondence, communications, and IRB documents.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse personnel at all levels of various organizations (internal and external), exercising tact, mature judgment, diplomacy, and flexibility to promote positive working relationships and job effectiveness. Excellent phone etiquette skills.

  • Effective, efficient and tactful oral and written communication skills.

  • Time management skills and the flexibility to accommodate changing priorities in unit.

  • Excellent customer service skills, pleasant, helpful and patient.

  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and work with frequent interruptions.

  • Proficiency with computers, including the ability to operate personal computer software with sophisticated retrieval, storage, and merging capabilities. Experience with online collaboration and survey tools such as Confluence and Qualtrics to facilitate study management for complex research study. Experience organizing and executing video conferencing for large research groups.

  • Working knowledge of UC San Diego policies and imaging studies, as well as experience working with multi-sites and nationwide research programs.

  • Relevant compliance certification (if applicable) preferred.

  • Working experience UCSD HRPP and Good Clinical Practice guidelines for the conduct of research.

  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.


Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $61,800 - $108,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.60 - $51.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
