The University of Southern California (USC) Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for a Clinical Staff Pharmacist, Specialty Pharmacy Division, based at Keck Hospital of USC.

In cooperation with other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, the Clinical Staff Pharmacist, acts as a resource and provides answers to drug information questions for patients, family, pharmacists, nurses, physicians, medical students, undergraduate and graduate pharmacy and students and other associate hospital personnel. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist coordinates all aspects of a patients specialty pharmaceutical needs. Duties include but are not limited to: medication order approval and distribution; assurance of appropriate dose, route, frequency, and duration of therapy, lab monitoring, medication reconciliation, prior authorization and appeal submission, medication education, guideline recommendations, patient assistance follow-ups; patient medication profile review for drug-drug interactions, duplication of therapy, drug allergy interactions and appropriate regimens; coordination of patients' pharmaceutical needs with physicians and nurses. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist will participate is comprehensive medication management for complex disease states and patient populations. In addition, other clinical pharmacy services aligned with specialty pharmacy priorities, including but not limited to medication adherence, specialty pharmacy prescription clinical review, order verification, and clinical documentation in line with major national accreditation agencies. Participates in appropriate hospital and/or departmental committees relevant to practice area.

Patient population includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with specialty disorders and pharmaceutical needs. Must be able to demonstrate medication dosing and identify pharmaceutical needs relative to the disease process and age. This position is also responsible for supervising Pharm.D. students, technicians, undergraduate and graduate student teaching, and providing educational programs for hospital staff (physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff).

Required Credentials and Experience:

Applicants must have a PharmD degree, and licensure or eligibility for licensure in California; completion of PGY1 residency, Board Certification (BPS), or equivalent practice experience preferred.

Recommended Credentials:

Advanced Practice Pharmacist via the CA State Board of Pharmacy

The hourly rate range for this position is $74.00 - $90.00. The USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is located on the USC Health Sciences Campus, which includes the Keck Hospital of USC, the Norris Cancer Hospital, and LAC+USC hospital. The Keck Hospital of USC is a 401-bed acute care hospital. Adjacent to the Keck Hospital are the Healthcare Centers 1, 2, and 4 which house a variety of outpatient primary care and specialty practices.
