Job Summary:

The Research Services Senior Professional in Health Services Research for the Department of Surgery, Division of GITES (GI, Trauma, and Endocrine Surgery) will provide vital support to research projects aimed at improving healthcare delivery, accessibility, and outcomes. This role involves working closely with principal investigators, researchers, and interdisciplinary teams to conduct research, gather and analyze data, and contribute to the overall success of health services research initiatives.

The Research Services Senior Professional will also play a vital role in supporting and contributing to research initiatives aimed at addressing health disparities and promoting health equity. Working closely with a team of researchers, you will be responsible for executing various research tasks, collecting, and analyzing data, and assisting in the development of strategies to advance health equity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with principal investigators and research teams to develop and implement research protocols. Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of health services research projects. Assist in the planning, design, and execution of health equity research projects.
  • Assist with grant development, application, and execution.
  • Collect and organize data from various sources, including literature reviews, surveys, interviews, and electronic health records. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of research data. Implement and maintain data collection systems. Implement data collection procedures, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
  • Organize and manage research databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data. Employ statistical and qualitative analysis methods to analyze research findings. Utilize statistical software and analytical tools to analyze research data. Collaborate with statisticians and data analysts to interpret results and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Community Engagement-Work with community partners to ensure the inclusion of diverse perspectives in research design and implementation. Facilitate communication between researchers and community stakeholders. Contribute to the development of strategies for community-based participatory research.
  • Team Collaboration-Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, statisticians, and other research professionals. Participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and next steps. Coordinate and manage research timelines, ensuring timely completion of project milestones.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field o A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis
  • Two (2) years clinical research or related experience

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or health related field 
  • Three (3) years of clinical research or related experience
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems)
  • Doctorate or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, sociology, epidemiology, health services research).
  • Demonstrated experience in research methodologies, data collection, and statistical analysis. Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) and data management tools. Familiarity with healthcare systems, policies, and health services delivery.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
  • Previous experience in health equity research or a related field is preferred. Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and with diverse communities

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as $13,848 - $17,615.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
