Job Summary

The Clinical Research Supervisor 2 establishes multi-site goals and objectives for the Early Psychosis Clinical and Research Programs at the UC Davis Medical Center. The Clinical Research Supervisor 2 is the acting program manager for the California Collaborative Network to Promote Data Driven Care and Improve Outcomes in Early Psychosis (EPI-CAL) program and oversee all EPI-CAL-related projects. Responsible for independently managing and/or supporting the PI/Executive Director in the development and execution of research or other projects and clinical study protocols, including contribution of advanced knowledge to project development and execution, independently managing program participation including recruitment and enrollment for research, manage and providing technical expertise and oversight of study conduct, data collection and organization. Uses advanced statistical analysis skills to manage data analysis and independently write manuscripts or other research related products, independently manages and serves as primary contact for multiple IRB protocols, supports communications with various agendas and ensure compliance with requirements, oversees hiring, onboarding, and management of staff, manages contract compliance, budget development, and financial resources across the EPI-CAL program and any related clinical or research projects. Independently coordinates and manages the overall administration and outcome of one or more clinical study protocols that involve human subjects in the EPI-CAL program and manages these operations by providing leadership, oversight, and delegation of tasks to other personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Clinical Trial Professional certification from a professional society within
    one year in position
    Demonstrated experience in a supervisory and/or lead role
  • Terminal degree (PhD preferred) in psychology or related field that provides understanding of psychiatric conditions and related psychosocial stressors according to DSM-V
  • Demonstrated knowledge of biological, social and psychological mechanisms related to mental health and/or cognitive functioning across the lifespan, obtained through advanced graduate study or additional substantive training
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical research experience within a leading academic institution and demonstrated experience with administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative programs or research agenda
  • Demonstrated experience managing collaborations between academia, industrial and / or governmental agencies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research principles and ethics, ability to follow protocols, and to use the internet for research. Previous experience developing, overseeing, and managing IRB protocols documents
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience providing oversight of complex data. Proven ability collecting, checking and analyzing data and creating lists and reports
  • Experience in providing support to staff, overseeing staff recruitment, tracking personnel-related training and credentialling, and managing confidential staff files
  • Significant experience in academic administration, grant writing, and financial resource management
  • Minimum two years of experience with budget development and management, including budgets for federally funded projects and other sources

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of professional work experience in research program management
  • Successful record of and demonstrated experience in academic and/or clinical research, resulting in co-authored, peer-reviewed publications

The goal of the UCD Early Psychosis clinical and research programs is to intervene as early as possible in order to prevent the development of disease-related deficits and treatment-related side effects for youth with serious mental illness.
