Job Summary

Applies extensive knowledge of clinical research protocols and processes to design research projects of large scope and high degrees of complexity.

Research Program Manager:

  • Establishes clinical research goals and objectives and functions with autonomy.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and advisor to the research group; translates clinical research objectives into research policy to support the operational infrastructure of the group as needed. 
  • Develops, manages, and oversees the organizational, strategic, and tactical aspects of a complex portfolio of NIH StrokeNet trials as well as philanthropy and industry-funded research with proven ability to translate clinical research philosophy into direct and indirect input to design, planning, initiation, execution, and reporting of clinical trials.
  • Provides operational, and project management oversight for assigned research. 
  • Represents the trials to study committees, partners, corporate / industry partners, and regulatory and oversight agencies as necessary.
  • Trains study team and provide certifications for the study. Provides management in developing clinical and research staff within the study team, and acts as a mentor for professional staff. 
  • Develops and manages the diversity, equity, and inclusion standards for clinical research participants within the research group. 
  • Communicates expertise to foster a productive learning environment including verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling skills; demonstrated ability to present complex information to an audience of varying knowledge and skill. 
  • Maintains a sufficient CRC workforce to complete research studies promptly inclusive of posting job positions, interviewing, and suggesting new hires.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical research practices and philosophy, and ability to apply knowledge and skills to recommend improvements in methodology. Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced ability to effectively lead one or more projects while competing to meet the demands of a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Adaptable to quickly changing priorities.
  • In-depth critical thinking skills to evaluate issues and identify a potential solution. Creatively addresses complex or new problems.
  • Advanced communication skills; including verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling skills. Clear and concise communicator.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including but not limited to problem-solving, teamwork development, and leadership with other team members. Works well with others to achieve common goals.
  • Proven ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Advanced knowledge of clinical information and documentation application programs. Proven ability in utilizing clinical trial management systems.
  • In-depth ability to work collaboratively with other cross-functional teams. In-depth ability to interface, collaborate, and influence / persuade other members of an extended study team.
