Job Description:

As the manager of the Phase One unit at the UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC), you will be responsible for helping to shape, grow and develop the clinical research operations within your unit. In your role, you will advocate for and allocate available resources to promote efficient, effective, and compassionate care for patients enrolled on research protocols in the ETG portfolio. A nuanced understanding of the clinical research process as well as decisive, decision-making ability is necessary for success in this role.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading your assigned team, working closely with the UFHCC-HR team and others within the CRO leadership team to drive performance, recruitment, and culture within your team.
  • Managing resolution and problem-solving efforts for issues arising from the conduct of clinical research, collaborating with critical partners throughout UF and UF Health.
  • Acting as a resource for your staff in the implementation of clinical research protocols and review of subject cases, providing guidance informed by your extensive experience and expertise in oncological clinical research topics. 
  • Overseeing unit compliance with internal and external regulatory and institutional requirements related to the trials in your unit.
  • Coordinating relevant care and protocol required testing for subjects enrolled on your assigned trials and ensuring that coverage is provided for other trials conducted in the unit in the absence of the primary Study Coordinator.

This is a management level position, ideal for candidates with an established career in clinical research and expertise in oncology and cooperative group clinical trials. Employees in these roles operate as part of our collaborative research enterprise and are fundamental to the progress of cancer research being conducted at the University of Florida. A complete job description will be provided to candidates selected for interview.

Advertised Salary:

$85,000 – $95,000; Commensurate with Education and Experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and two years of experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Masters' in Nursing, Basic Sciences, and/or Healthcare Administration.
  • Strong preference for licensure as a registered professional nurse in accordance with Chapter 464 Florida Statutes or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with Section 210 Florida Administrative Code.
  • Ten or more years' experience in study coordination and/or study management preferred.
  • Oncology certification (OCN or similar) is highly preferred.
  • Expert understanding of research ethics and the responsible conduct of research, with a focus on the regulations and guidelines governing human subject clinical trials.
  • Prior experience as a supervisor or team lead and/or completion of leadership/management training program
    (eg. Managing at UF - The Supervisory Challenge).

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across functions to optimize performance and drive projects to completion.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
