About the Department
 

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has 136 clinical providers, providing care at the main hospital in Hyde Park and seven off site locations. We have more than 68,000 outpatient visits, 28,000 ultrasound visits, 2,800 deliveries, and 3,300 surgeries per year. Teaching, research, and the highest quality clinical care are top priorities for the Department. The residency and fellowship programs are highly ranked and have a history of training leaders in healthcare. The Department also has a significant research enterprise, engaging in population health studies, as well as research conducted in wet laboratories on tumor biology, fibroid research, and hypertensive diseases in pregnancy.


Job Summary
 

Under direction of senior lab leadership, the job performs the coordination and conduction of the study from startup through closeout. The job performs assignments related to the documentation, analysis, and reporting of research data. Provides input to support the strategic, administrative, operational, and financial decisions that impact clinical research conducted across the University.
The job performs routine assignments related to scientific research projects. Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. May contribute to articles, reports and manuscripts. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for data reporting and management, collection of source documents, use and development of case report forms, filing and archiving study records, and resolving data queries.

  • Under general supervision, collaborating with faculty, clinical staff, support staff, other researchers, residents, and medical students to provide technical and administrative support, as well as development and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative research.

  • Coordinating study logistics, including participant recruitment, data collection, and data management; drafting study instruments and protocols; assisting in training and protocol development.

  • Ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.

  • Assisting in writing and editing research grants and manuscripts.

  • Designing, implementing and maintaining an active database for data retrieval to ensure study success.

  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project or projects.

  • Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

  • Maintains general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.

  • Coordinates and may participate in quality assurance reviews conducted by study sponsors, federal agencies, or specially designated review groups.

  • Assisting with administrative tasks for the lab (e.g., taking meeting minutes, scheduling, placing supply orders, managing the lab website and email).

  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

  • Maintains recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
