Job Description Summary:
The Liver Center Clinical Research Coordinator works with faculty investigators and other research staff to promote clinical and translational research in liver disease. Duties include assisting in regulatory and operational aspects of investigator-initiated clinical research and working collaboratively with other liver center personnel in activities related to liver specimen biobanking.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate degree or an equivalent combination of relevant post-secondary education and work experience that equals at least 2 years. 

Work Experience:

  • 2 years related work experience.

  • Experience with regulations governing clinical research (CFR, GCP, HIPAA). 

  • Experience with statutes and guidelines relevant to regulatory affairs in clinical research. 

  • Experience with study budgets, contracts, and grant applications

           

Preferred Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

•    Bachelors’ degree in relevant field.

•    Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or certification eligible

•    Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or certification eligible

Skills

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and possess good interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent communicator; oral and written.

  • Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Job Duties

  • Recruit, evaluate, and educate patients regarding clinical trials following established procedures and protocols.

  • Conducts Informed Consent Interviews with participants and where required, participant families.

  • Document trial related activities as directed and ensure study data is reported in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Coordinate study participant visit activities including scheduling procedures, communicating with subjects, and completing necessary basic study procedures.

  • Maintain trial regulatory documentation files including correspondence with sponsor, KUMC IRB, and subjects.

  • Assist faculty in preparation of IRB submissions and NIH human subjects research sections.

  • Participate in liver specimen procurement activities.

  • Assist in writing research study protocols.

  • Perform basic laboratory benchwork, such as cell isolation, tissue embedding, and sectioning.

  • Work with external research investigators with liver tissue requests.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
