Job Description:
Responsible for the daily operations of studies run by the Department of Neurology. The
predominant research focus for this position will be studies pertaining to memory and aging. Successfully
executes multidisciplinary studies to include biomarker studies, Phase I to post-market research. Current
studies are administered in outpatient clinics at the Fixel Center for Neurological Diseases. Job
expectations include screening and recruitment for studies along with establishing a database of current
and potential participants. Candidate will be responsible for administering questionnaires, as well as giving
standardized cognitive and motor tests. Incumbent will coordinate ancillary services such as imaging scans
for patients diagnosed with various psychiatric and neurological conditions. Enters data into clinical trial
management systems and reports all adverse events & deviations to the appropriate review board.
 
Responsible for administrative aspects of all investigator research, industry sponsored trials;
interprets and should be familiar with the contractual terms and conditions; and assists investigators with
meeting requirements of external regulatory bodies. Maintains subject source & regulatory binders.
Ensures all research adheres to defined study protocols, according to local and federal regulations.
Proficient understanding of GCP/ICH standards. Implements quality control of data collected. Develop and
maintain research databases.
 
Promotes and facilitates both clinical and basic science research for the in the Department of
Neurology in conjunction with the College of Medicine (COM). Provides expertise and advice to faculty and
the department regarding the design of investigator (including scientists, fellows, and faculty) initiated
research. Provides those listed above with information on sources of grant funding through federal, state,
and private sector organizations/agencies for investigator-initiated research.
 
Attends research study conferences/meetings as a representative of the Department of Neurology.
Must work well as part of a team and understand the need for flexibility to adapt to changing environments
Expected Salary:

56,000-65,000

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with clinical trials in UF COM.
 
Masters degree in Neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology or related field.
 
Experience in neuropsych test administration.
 
Excellent written and verbal skills.
 
It is critical that this assistant be able to work both independently with modest direction and as part of a
team.
 
Reliability, flexibility, professional manner, and organizational skills are essential. Must have excellent
attention to detail and record keeping. Must be able to problem solve, prioritize responsibilities, and manage
several priorities at once.
