Clinical Research Assistant

The Trauma and Transfusion Medicine Research Center (TTMRC) is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant for Dr. Susan Shea's lab. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing day-to-day activities of designated research projects. Responsibilities will include participant screening, recruitment, and enrollment; survey administration, medical record screening, biological sample collection, and data entry; participant tracking and progress reporting. Work will be performed in accordance with established standard operating procedures and under the close supervision of the lead study coordinator.



Job Summary

Conducts research assessments and procedures independently. Oversees operations when leadership is unavailable. Recruits and screens participants, reviews records and surveys, and maintains databases. Performs routine data analysis and prepares reports, data visualizations, and models.


Essential Functions 

Ability to visualize a computer screen, utilize computer keyboard, and communicate effectively while speaking and writing. The incumbent must be able to use a computer and telephone. The incumbent must be able to speak English clearly to be understood by participants both in person and over the phone. The incumbent must hear well enough to understand English spoken by non-native speakers. The incumbent must be able to travel to various UPMC sites if necessary.


Physical Effort 

Mixture of sedentary and ambulatory work.
