Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey , is seeking a Simulation Operations Specialist is responsible for providing technical and operational support for Rutgers School of Nursing Simulation and Clinical Learning Laboratories. Adhering to industry standards of best practices, the Simulation Operations Specialists is responsible for supporting day-to-day operations of the center including setup of simulation activities, support and troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment and software in the simulation laboratories. This position may be asked to assist with training faculty and staff on proper use of equipment andassisting with the development of learning experiences. The Simulation Operations Specialist may also oversee a Simulated Patient (SP) program including the recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling SPs for learning activities in the School of Nursing.
Among the duties include:
  • Contributes to a safe learning environment, including regular maintenance of equipment, storage, and organization of supplies and equipment, and upkeep of simulation laboratories.
  • Participates in projects and major initiatives as needed, including but not limited to program system designs, technical needs outline, operation workflow, and layout.
  • Works collaboratively with department IT personnel, OIT, and vendors to update software, troubleshoot, and repair of equipment and software.
  • Maintains competency with AVS, IS systems, best practices, and regulations related to educational technology through participation in continuing education.
  • Supports the fiscal management of the Center for Clinical Learning by keeping accurate inventory of supplies, equipment, and other products as well as using expertise to assist with purchasing of new equipment.
  • May manage Simulated Patient (SP) program include the recruiting, hiring, scheduling, and overall management of SPs for participation in simulated learning activities in the Center for Clinical Learning.
  • Assists faculty and participants in simulation-based learning activities using best practices

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years experience with educational activities in a healthcare environment
  • Minimum 1-year experience with patient care in a clinical setting
  • A valid Driver’s license is required.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of simulation platforms.
  • Knowledge of basic adult learning theory and application.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy.
  • Requires some flexibility regarding campus and site locations as well as scheduled hours.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous simulation experience
  • Active clinical licensure or certification as an LPN, RN, EMTP, or RT with clinical experience
  • Experience conducting virtual education using Zoom or a similar platform
  • Previous experience as a simulation operator or technician
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification
  • Instructor certification in a healthcare-related discipline such as the American Heart Association’s BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS
