Job Summary
The position seeks a self-motivated, technical proficient individual with mass spectrometry, chromatography and immunoassay experience.
The position works closely with laboratory directors and will follow established technical and quality requirements (CLIA, CAP). Primary duties will include the design, development, validation, and implementation of clinical assays to be perform in the UK clinical laboratory.
Other duties will include troubleshooting of complex instrument and data acquisition problems, authoring standard operation procedures, and initial training of personnel for the assays developed.
The UKHC Laboratories provide services to all aspects of this Level I trauma center and throughout the Healthcare Enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center.
The CAP-Accredited Laboratory at the University of Kentucky showcases the use of state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Excel, Word. Experience in research, knowledge of molecular diagnostics and ability to troubleshoot. Mass Spectrometry, Immunoassay, Analytical method development/validation.

Preferred Education/Experience
Either BS with four or more years analytical chemistry, clinical chemistry or Medical Laboratory Science, MS (analytical chemistry, clinical chemistry or Medical Laboratory Science), or PHD (analytical chemistry, clinical chemistry or Medical Laboratory Science) preferred. Assay development experience, Assay validation experience preferred.
