Organizational Unit Overview
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSDI) offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. There are presently over 200 students with declared majors within the department. The department operates the on-campus ECU Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic. This is a full-service speech and hearing clinic offering a variety of services in speech-language pathology and audiology. The clinic provides 80-100 appointments per week consisting of diagnostic and treatment sessions in speech-language pathology and audiology. Current audiology services include adult and pediatric hearing evaluations, adult and pediatric hearing aids, cochlear implant evaluation and follow up, auditory processing evaluations, comprehensive tinnitus assessment and management, electrophysiologic assessment, and vestibular evaluations using VNG/ENG, vHIT, VEMP, and rotational chair testing. The department is CAA-accredited and offers programs leading to BS, MS, AuD, and PhD degrees.
Job Duties
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Allied Health Sciences at East Carolina University (ECU) invites applications for a full time, fixed-term, audiologist at the title of Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor depending on experience, serving our Doctor of Audiology program. The primary responsibilities of this position involve patient care services and clinical supervision of AuD students. The position will also involve teaching, including but not limited to simulated cases, case study presentations, and guest lectures. All faculty members in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders are expected to contribute to service to the Department, University, and Profession.
This position would be responsible for teaching duties/instructional and clinical services in the clinic, and service to the university and profession. Patient care continues during university breaks.
Minimum Education/Experience
AuD, or PhD in Audiology or equivalent.
Recent clinical experience with adult hearing evaluations, adult hearing aids and aural rehabilitation. Ability to offer services in at least one specialty area of practice (pediatrics, cochlear implants, tinnitus, vestibular).
North Carolina audiology licensure and Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (if not currently licensed/certified, candidate must demonstrate eligibility for licensure).
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Three or more years of experience in clinical audiology practice, experience supervising Au.D. students, and expertise in an area of specialization.
