Compensation:
Pay Range: $70,425 - $114,440/year

Duties:

 To function in a collaborative role between nursing directors, nurse managers, nursing staff and Health System Information Services to facilitate strategic planning for and utilization of information technology. To provide education and direct nursing leadership in clinical analysis, quality improvement, design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of clinical information systems. To independently accomplish work within the context of the team, identify and resolve complex problems and coordinate the work of others to achieve organizational objectives. To manage multiple highly creative and/or technical tasks effectively.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

·         Acts as a consultant and liaison with clinicians and committees regarding information technology. Make recommendations for planning and development of clinical systems that promote efficiency as well as technology adoption.  Independently uses data to identify opportunities to improve system functionality as well as utilization and fosters change.

·         Leads project team efforts on projects throughout the project life cycle. 

·         Leads development and revision of department policies and procedures to address changes brought about by the implementation of technology.

·         Develop and maintain relationships with vendors for research and development purposes. Attend vendor training as needed. Attend vendor user groups and conferences, preferably with IT Systems Analyst.

·         Work collaboratively within the Information Technology governance structure to develop resolutions to issues in response to user requests or concerns about system functionality.  Demonstrates expert understanding of system functionality in pursuit of resolution.  Demonstrates innovative problem solving skills.

·         Assumes on-call duties as needed to provide user support per the established framework.  Assist in the establishment of a collaborative user support framework which addresses hardware, software, and process issues at all times that systems are operational (24/7).

·         Establishes appropriate priorities for assigned projects and staff, communicates priorities and ensure compliance. Supervises progress, quality development and support activities.

·         Assigns staff projects consistent with the health system, IS department and team priorities with consideration to appropriate workload balancing and staff development needs.

·         Informs IS Management regularly of status, progress, issues problems, etc. 

·         Demonstrates the ability to recognize, establish and deal with priorities as well as issues promptly.  Utilizes resources and time effectively.

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed in the area of clinical specialty by the State of Alabama.

Preferred Skills

·         Five (5) years experience in direct patient care (at least 1 year with UAB)

·         Master’s Degree preferred

·         Demonstrated understanding of clinical care delivery process

·         Demonstrated organizational, analytical, writing and interpersonal skills

·         Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and manage staff

·         Demonstrated ability to set and manage multiple priorities and to lead others in team projects

·         Demonstrated ability to manage and/or resolve issues affecting multiple departments
