Summary/Description:
The UIC College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time, motivated professional for the position of Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist. The position will be assigned to UI Health’s Surgery services.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to surgical patients admitted to the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) and general hospital wards at the University of Illinois Hospital.  The hospital is a 450-bed academic institution located approximately 2 miles west of downtown Chicago. The hospital serves an urban, indigent patient population. 

Duties:
The clinical faculty/clinical pharmacists at UH Health are integral members of the multidisciplinary teams. The clinical pharmacist duties include attending daily rounds, medication profile review, identifying medication related problems, evidence-based medication and dosing recommendations, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) management, therapeutic drug monitoring, provision of drug information, patient education, and attending rapid response team calls and cardiopulmonary arrests. The ideal candidate will lead overall adult TPN initiatives by participating in the hospital Nutrition committee and take a lead role in updating hospital adult TPN guidelines and protocols.  The candidate will also be responsible for nurse, physician, and pharmacy staff development; coordinating and conducting quality initiative projects and developing collaborative treatment and research protocols.

The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member (Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well. Academic rank commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:
PharmD degree from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
Must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist by start date.
Completion of Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency required.
Must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy

Preferred Qualifications
Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) Specialty residency, Fellowship, or 3 years of experience in the specialty area.
Highly preferred strong clinical knowledge base; analytical and problem solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
