Compensation :
Pay Range: $43,235-70,255 annually

Multiple Shifts Available :
UAB Medicine supports work/life balance and offers a Monday-Friday work schedule for this role with no weekends or holidays. The shifts available for this unit are:
- Full-Time AM (6 a.m.-3 p.m., 7 a.m.-4 p.m., 8 a.m.-5 p.m)  

Unit Details :
UAB Medicine Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation provides the latest research-based care for patients with heart or lung conditions, ranging from recent heart attack and heart failure to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, to improve their quality of life and help them recover from surgery or other treatments. With services that are nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) and supported by the advanced technology, facilities, and equipment at UAB Spain Rehabilitation Center , staff on this unit work as part of an interdisciplinary team of nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians, respiratory therapists, and behaviorists providing care in a gym setting to educate patients on exercise and disease management as well as develop goals to improve their overall heart and lung health.

Job Description:

To provide multidisciplinary rehabilitative care to the cardiac and pulmonary clinical patient population. To assess patient’s exercise, educational and behavioral needs. To be responsible for the evaluation of patient condition to include, but not limited to, strength and endurance, flexibility, and teaching to reduce falls through balancing routines. To work as a team member in a multidisciplinary environment to include, medical directors, registered nurses, dietitians, respiratory therapy and other exercise physiologists in establishing rehabilitation goals and implementing individualized treatment plans. To assume a leadership role within multidisciplinary team as an exercise specialist guiding exercise prescription and progression, and designating specified exercise modalities for patient population through individual assessment. To be responsible for the understanding and pursuit of program performance metrics to ensure best outcomes with each patient. To respond to the unique needs of all patients’ ages young adult through geriatric.

 

Qualifications

 

Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education or a related field required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently certified by either American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) or American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) as Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP). If maintaining an active CCRP certification, completion of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Certificate by AACVPR is encouraged, but not required.
