Description

 

The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program is part of the School of Health Professions and is housed within the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences.  The Speech and Language Clinical Education Coordinator coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Speech-Language Hearing Clinic, coordinates external practicum placements, and assists with student supervision as needed. 

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

·        Assists with the planning and designing of the Speech-Language Hearing Clinic (SLHC).

·        Oversees the day-to-day operations of the SLHC.

·        Coordinate external practicum placements.

·        Develops and implements policies and procedures for delivery of speech, language, and hearing services to clients.

·        Responsible for maintenance of client and student records in accordance with HIPPA and FERPA regulations.

·        Ensures that clinic staff and the students fully implement policies and procedures for the delivery of speech, language, and hearing services to clients both at the SLHC and external placement sites.

·        Develops and maintains a record keeping system, including statistics books and compilation of statistical data for preparation of clinic and accreditation reports.

·        Develops and maintains clinical forms and documentation and cataloging systems.

·        Designs and coordinates an annual full-day clinical practicum boot camp for newly accepted graduate students.

·        Coordinates community-based initiatives to enable students to participate in public school kindergarten screenings, and to work with preschools and early intervention programs.

·        Works with the University Office of Disability and offices assisting English language learners to identifying and support UT Tyler students who may benefit from speech and language services.

·        Develops and maintains a Practicum Handbook.

·        Develops and maintains clinical documentation systems.

·        Assists with the CSD Program Annual Self-Assessment, and strategic planning and implementation. 

·        Orders and maintains clinical equipment and supplies and maintains a comprehensive inventory of clinic resources and equipment.

·        Conducts annual assessments of clinical supervisors.

·        Coordinates Weekly Practicum Seminar.

·        Supervises clinical practicum students as needed.



Qualifications

 

Required Education / Experience:

·       Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

·       Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.

·       License in Speech-Language Pathology in the State of Texas.

·       Experience in a clinical setting providing speech-language pathology services to clients/patients.

·       Experience in clinical supervision/instruction to practicum students and/or clinical fellows.

·       Completed coursework and/or training in clinical supervision/instruction in speech-language pathology preferred.
