Clinical Director, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Therapist (Instructor)

Job Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time Clinical Director, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Therapist (Instructor) at the Johnson Depression Center (JDC) at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. This role will come with a 0.1 leadership FTE buy-out for Clinical Director role, 0.7 FTE for the Intensive Outpatient Program therapist role, and 0.2 outpatient care at the Johnson Depression Center.

The Intensive Outpatient Program-Outpatient Clinical Director will be responsible for providing supervision and oversight of the Johnson Depression Center Intensive Outpatient Program in collaboration with the Johnson Depression Center Clinic Leadership Team.  The Director will also provide group therapy and individual therapy in the Intensive Outpatient Program and will lead program and curriculum development and provide supervision to other clinical Intensive Outpatient Program faculty and staff.
Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with the Johnson Depression Center Medical Director and associate Director to guide clinical operations of the Johnson Depression Center Intensive Outpatient Program and collaborate with other leaders to build relationships across different levels of care as well as medical health units and providers
• Monitor the practice of clinical faculty in regard to University of Colorado (CU), CU Medicine, and regulatory requirements;
• Set standards of practice, organize/provide supervision and mentorship to clinical faculty
• Provides direct patient care in the Johnson Depression Center Intensive Outpatient Program, including group therapy utilizing evidenced based practices;
• Diagnose, evaluate, and provide direct patient individual therapy in areas such as crisis management, motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, etc.;
• Screen for suicidal ideation and other safety concerns and document clinical interactions in a timely fashion to support clinic operations;
• Other duties as assigned.
  

Examples of Work Performed:

• Provides multiculturally sensitive behavior health assessment, triage, case management, and individual and group psychotherapy;
• Collaborate with other mental health faculty and staff in the provision of mental health and wellness care;
• Help manage details of insurance including authorization and peer to peer reviews for denials;
• Chart patient visits using an electronic medical record;
• Assist in discharge planning, including identifying community placement;
• Develop programmatic benchmarks and outcomes of effectiveness;
• Participate in quality and performance assessment projects;
• Participate in the development of and administration of group programs including skills development, experiential activities, and mindfulness;
• Participate in other programs and service development.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite at the Johnson Depression Center in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Instructor

• Candidates must have an LPC or LCSW and must hold a Colorado License.
• 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. 

Faculty appointments in the Colorado School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry are commensurate with experience and qualifications.  

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of relevant experience
• Experience in program development and wellness 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must have skills in risk assessment, including suicide and violence risk assessment.
• Knowledge of evidence-based treatments including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT), and Habit Reversal Training (HRT)
• Must be comfortable with case management and coordination of care.
• Must be comfortable with a combination of individual and group therapy, as well as working with families.
• Must be efficient with time management with the ability to see many patients in a row if needed or to use time constructively for administrative or other work.
• Must develop knowledge about step-down processes and network with community providers.
• Must be able to work cooperatively with all constituencies in the Department of Psychiatry including Departmental Chair, Program Directors, and administrative staff.
• Should be comfortable developing wellness programs and with public speaking.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong clinical judgement & leadership skills
• Demonstration of flexibility and problem-solving
• Professional and personal qualities to work effectively with faculty, administrators, and patients

The administrative stipend for this role has been established at $3,000. This stipend is contingent on the continued service as the Clinical Director, Johnson Depression Center Intensive Outpatient Program.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
