The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Clinical Coordinator III (RN) will provide patient-centered nursing care directly, in addition to triaging patients remotely and helping coordinate testing and visits to providers across numerous specialties. The Nurse Coordinator will assist with clinical research study enrollment, participant monitoring, coordination and database management. They will work closely with the medical directors of the HHT program, as well as with other providers across a multidisciplinary team.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the coordinator of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide support to patients, assist physicians with procedures, and educate families.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
  • Work closely with physicians to assure high-quality care of patients in the practice, and those under cross-coverage responsibility.
  • Ensure relevant Telemed and front desk messages are addressed by the end of each day.
  • Check diagnostic testing results for patients and take the appropriate measures to manage abnormal findings.
  • Communicate test results with patients.
  • Provide technical assistance to other associates seeking input for authorization of tests associated with the care of patients in the practice.
  • Record all patient interactions in Epic.
  • Develop and participate in the education of patients and families on HHT management.
  • Utilize knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control, and safety precautions; initiate appropriate interventions in crisis situations.
  • Assist with obtaining prior authorization for ordered tests and medications.
  • Assist with screening, enrollment and management of patients in clinical trials.
  • Report unanticipated problems and eligibility-related waivers to the IRB in RASCAL.
  • Work with research staff to provide patient information needed at the time of annual renewal, including aggregate lists of AEs, SAEs, and violations.
  • Help to ensure timely entry of data into electronic databases.
  • Maintain applicable forms, checklists, spreadsheets, and tables to manage clinical trial data.
  • Assist with eligibility review, enrollment, monitoring, and other tasks, for multi-center IITs.
  • For studies on which the Center holds the IND, work with the Clinical Trials Manager to organize auditing of affiliated sites as necessary, under the direction of the PI of the trial POD, responsible for coordinating travel to Investigator Meetings.
  • Assist with other relevant administrative tasks and provide cross-coverage of other nurses in the practice.
  • Participate in regular HHT coordinator meetings, conferences and events.
  • Perform additional related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of nursing experience
  • Current New York State RN license and BLCS certification
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, superior customer skills in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to interact with patients and clinicians

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nurse coordinator experience
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 codes

Other Requirements

  • Participation in the medical surveillance program
    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Wear N-95 respirator
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
