About the Position
The Law, Communications, and Ethics Area at the Daniels School of Business, Purdue University, invites candidates to apply for a full-time Clinical Associate or Full Professor position (non-tenure track but promotable to higher rank depending on the rank the candidate is hired into).  Candidates should demonstrate success in teaching business law, ethics, and related courses.  The appointment is expected to begin August 2024.   

 

As defined by the university, the roles are expected to have accomplished the following:

 

Associate Clinical Professor: The candidate must exhibit documented expertise in clinical instruction or professional practice, be qualified to participate in the educational programs of the department or school and demonstrate evidence of teaching. In addition, the candidate is expected to have scholarly accomplishments, with a demonstrated or emerging prominence in his or her field at the state, regional, national or international level as appropriate.

 

Full Clinical Professor: The candidate must exhibit documented expertise in clinical instruction or professional practice, demonstrate professional and scholarly accomplishment and have achieved recognition by his or her peers at the state, regional, nation or international level as appropriate.

 

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include a subset of the following:

•    Teach MGMT 254, the core business law course, and other undergraduate courses as needed by the area and department.
•    Teach masters level courses as needed by the area and department.
•    Teach the undergraduate core ethics course as needed by the area and department.
•    The teaching load for this position is 18 hours per year and courses can be taught in person, hybrid, and online, as determined by the area and department needs.
•    The service component for this role is an additional 9 hours per academic year. That service component may include facilitating the annual conferences for the Cornerstone for Business and the Ethics Center.
•    It may also include facilitating an ethics competition for the Ethics Center.
•    The service component will include additional duties as needed by the area and department.

 


Required Qualifications

 
•    JD or related degree at the time of appointment
•    Relevant college or university teaching experience that is commensurate with the level of experience necessary for the rank of Associate or Full Clinical Professor (a minimum of 5 years)
•    Qualified under AACSB standards
•    Relevant experience practicing law in either the public or private sector
•    Commitment to teaching and service
•    Experience teaching at an AACSB accredited business school.
•    Evidence of past collaborations with faculty, students, staff and administrators
•    Positive teaching reviews
•    Demonstrated success coordinating teaching of a core course and developing experiential curriculum and teaching strategy with up-to-date technology
•    Working knowledge with online teaching platforms such as Brightspace, Blackboard, etc.


Preferred Qualifications

 

•    Admitted to practice law in any state
•    Masters in Business Administration
•    Experience mentoring newer faculty teaching at an AACSB accredited school
