Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Counselor Education Program in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a full-time Professional Track Faculty (Clinical Assistant Professor) in Counselor Education. The anticipated start date for the successful applicant is August 2024.
The successful applicant will: (1) teach core and specialty courses in the entry-level programs and doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision; (2) provide service and leadership in the Counselor Education program; (4) advise entry-level students and serve on doctoral dissertation committees; (5) maintain active participation in counseling professional organizations through service and scholarly presentations; and (6) serve on program, department, college, and university committees.
Required Education and Experience
Candidates should have: (1) an earned doctorate in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program by the anticipated start date (2) licensed or license-eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina; Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; or certified school counselor; (3) significant clinical experience; (4) evidence of effective teaching and clinical supervision in Counselor Education; and (5) demonstrated experience and commitment to diversity, working with diverse populations, and anti-racist counselor training.
