Job Summary

The School of Nursing at The University of Texas at Tyler invites experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners to apply for a full-time non-tenure-track, clinical assistant professor faculty position at a salary commensurate with experience and a flexible start date. This appointment is 60% teaching in a PMHNP program and 40% practice in our affiliated health care system during the academic year, with 100% practice appointment when school is not in session. The practice is primarily focused on adolescent mental health with some coverage at the adult outpatient clinic.

Essential Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary teaching responsibility in a nationally recognized online graduate nursing program and highly successful BSN program.
  • Maintain an active clinical practice.
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Participate in School and University service.

 

Required Qualifications

  • DNP or PhD in Nursing with expertise in psychiatric mental health care across the lifespan.
  • APRN license with PMHNP certification.
  • Eligible for licensure in Texas if appropriate.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate and/or online teaching experience.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
