Job Summary:


The Department of Graduate Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner clinical assistant professor (non-Tenure track). Rank is negotiable based on experience.
This position is part of a dynamic team in the growing psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program. Candidates should show evidence of teaching experience and are expected to contribute to the academic and scholarly goals of the university and college. They will contribute to the curriculum development, teaching, and mentorship of students in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) programs. Candidates with specific expertise in geriatric and/or pediatric/adolescent psychiatric-mental health experience are preferred, but all experience is welcome.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborates with the Program Director and other graduate nursing faculty to promote quality graduate education including work on curricular revision.
  • Update course outcomes and course descriptions as needed and submit and present changes to GSC as needed.
  • Develop and update courses in alignment with course learning outcomes, program outcomes, graduate level education essentials and competencies, clinical guidelines, and current research.
  • Develop and maintain courses which meet accessibility requirements.
  • Retain overall responsibility for all sections of assigned courses and ensure all sections operate with the same course policies and course content.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct online, classroom and clinical experiences for students.
  • Participate in scholarly and academic activities appropriate to rank.
  • Maintain academic standards as established by the university, CONHI, and Department of Graduate Nursing.
  • Assume responsibility for and participate in the planning and organization of courses to which assigned.
  • Plan professional development activities for self, such as continuing education offerings, workshops, and professional meetings.
  • Participate in program, college, and university committees, and in other activities associated with professional status.
  • Maintain membership in and participates in professional associations by serving on local/state committees of professional organizations.
  • Incorporate new knowledge and techniques in online, clinical, classroom, and laboratory teaching.
  • Required Qualifications:

    • Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP or PhD) or related field (e.g., EdD)
    • Unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas
    • Unencumbered PMHNP license in the State of Texas
    • An active, direct patient care practice that can be maintained on a limited part-time basis
    • A minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience as a PMHNP
    • A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2-3 years of teaching experience
    • Course development and maintenance experience
    • A demonstrated program of scholarship
