Position Summary

The Department of Social Work at the University of Southern Indiana, a public university in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a 12-month renewable Clinical Assistant Professor of Social Work and Assistant Director of Field Education in Social Work position. Appointment will begin May 2024.

The Assistant Director of Field Education assists the Director of Field Education with identifying and contracting with community agencies to provide student placements. The Assistant Director of Field Education assigns students to those placements, participates in ongoing evaluation of the field education program at all sites, and assists in mentoring and training field seminar instructors/faculty field liaisons and agency field instructors, and assists with the electronic field management system. The Assistant Director also teaches a field seminar course each semester. This position reports to the Director of Field Education.

Duties/Responsibilities 

• Assist with securing quality field education placements for Bachelor's of Social Work (BSW) and Master's of Social Work (MSW)
• Assist with coordination and implementation of the placement process for the BSW and MSW students
• Assist with the processing and resolution of field issues when they occur
• Assist with ensuring effective communication between field agencies, instructors, field liaisons and students
• In collaboration with the field office staff, develop and implement orientation and training programs for field instructors, field liaisons, and students
• Advise Field Education students

Required Knowledge and Skills

Master’s degree in Social Work, a current social clinical social worker license (LCSW) and at least two years post-graduate clinical experience.
