Organizational Unit Overview
The PM&R Department serves the rehabilitation needs of the 1.3 million people in a 29-county region of eastern North Carolina and is located within ECU Health Rehabilitation Center at ECU Health Medical Center, with Spinal Cord, Brain Injury, General Rehab, and Pediatric Rehabilitation Units.
The Center’s 57-bed inpatient unit is one of few rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in eleven or more specialty areas. The Center is also one of the five centers of excellence at ECU Health. ECU Health Medical Center is a JCAHO-accredited Level I Trauma center.
The ECU Brody School of Medicine is partnered with ECU Health Medical Center (formerly Vidant Medical Center). ECU Health Medical Center is the flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Job Duties
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) seeks a board certified/board eligible PM&R physician to provide care on a CARF-accredited General Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury, and/or Traumatic Brain Injury inpatient unit and in the outpatient clinic setting.
Abundant opportunities exist for performance of EMGs and ultrasounds and other outpatient clinical needs, including outpatient musculoskeletal clinics in our newly developed Ortho/Musculoskeletal service line, amputee care, spasticity management including baclofen pumps, botox and phenol, EMG/NCS, and wound/hyperbaric medicine. The candidate will participate in the training of residents, medical students, and other allied health students. Research is supported and is a valued component of the position.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457).  This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS). Minimum Education/Experience
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an appropriately accredited institution.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
NC Medical License, DEA license
