Organizational Unit Overview
It is the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, to provide exemplary medical education/training of physicians in pediatric medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, it is the mission of the department to provide model comprehensive primary and consultative subspecialty care to children of eastern North Carolina, to advance scientific knowledge through basic and clinical research, and to provide continuing medical education opportunities for physicians in the region.
Job Duties
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina is recruiting a BE/BC pediatric cardiologist with expertise in inpatient and outpatient pediatric cardiac care. He/she will be responsible for outpatient clinic, outreach clinic, and inpatient management and consultations.
The physician will join a 5-physician division providing care to a population of 1.3 million people in 29 counties in eastern North Carolina. The division provides inpatient, outpatient, outreach clinic, electrophysiologic, interventional catheterization, and limited surgical support for the pediatric and adult congenital cardiac patient. Outpatient pediatric/adult congenital cardiac services are provided at East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina University as well as at 9 outreach clinic sites. Inpatient pediatric/adult congenital cardiac services are provided at the 142 bed Children’s Hospital of Eastern North Carolina as well as at the 120 bed East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina Health Medical Center.
Fixed Term or Tenure Track Position Available at the title / rank of Assistant Professor, Assistant Clinical Professor, Associate Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Professor, or Clinical Professor.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457).  This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS). Qualifications for Tenure Track and Clinical Track are the same.
Minimum Education/Experience
MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution, or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for ECFMG Certification. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of North Carolina. Board Certified or eligible for board certification.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
North Carolina Medical License. Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology
