Job Description:

The University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine and Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time faculty position in veterinary cardiology at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor. This position is focused on teaching and clinical service, but also provides opportunities to participate in clinical and bench-top research. Teaching responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction in the professional curriculum and the supervision of cardiology residents and interns. Participation in the clinical service in the UF Veterinary Hospital includes receiving and management of cardiology cases, consultations within the hospital and with practicing veterinarians, participating in the growth of this service, and continuing education. Development of an independent or collaborative clinical research program in an area of special interest is encouraged. Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist within the College and with the UF College of Medicine.

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences has a strong cardiology service with a successful residency training program, robust medical and interventional cardiovascular caseload, strong clinical research endeavors, an active open heart surgery program and strong collaborative ties with the UF College of Medicine pediatric and adult cardiology programs. State‐of‐the‐art equipment and facilities currently available include 2 Phillips EPIQ 7 Doppler echocardiographic machines with multiple transducers (including 2 multiplane transesophageal), multiple pacemaker programmers, a Holter recording system and a well-equipped, dedicated cardiac catheterization laboratory. Other imaging modalities available in the hospital include nuclear imaging, MRI, and CT scanning. An active Clinical Trials service and access to a shared research laboratory facilitate leveraging a busy caseload for relevant clinical research. The college and department offer competitive intramural research funds on a semi-annual basis. 

Expected Salary:

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree. Minimum required qualification for this position is completion of an ACVIM or ECVIM approved cardiology residency.
