The PCORI Health System Implementation Initiative (HSII) was established to strengthen the capabilities for the effective rollout of new Temple Health projects. This will be achieved by refining implementation approaches, equipping pivotal leadership personnel, and advancing our IT systems, thus broadening our capacity to launch new projects.

The Clinical Applications Support Specialist (Epic) will: improve the functionality of the EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) tools; collaborate with the advisory board and the Capacity Building HSII team to prioritize EPIC outcomes tracking as requirements for individual implementations; 2) customize the EPIC EMR software to align with the goals of an implementation project, such as developing alert optimization, order sets and pathways, predictive modeling, secure communications, reporting, data facilitation, and more; and enact tangible, immediate updates to the EMR to build program evaluation capabilities.

Responsibilities include: 
•    Design/Build and Improve the functionality of the EPIC Electronic Medical Record to meet the needs of the PCORI Health System Implementation Initiatives
•    Develop strategy and reporting structure to accomplish capacity-building goals
•    Develop and manage data interfaces to ensure fidelity if needed to interface with 3rd parties 
•    Ensure regulatory policies and procedures are adhered to 
•    Identify and resolve EPIC EMR issues and provide reliable technical expertise
•    Design and build EPIC dashboards 
•    Customize the EPIC HER to align with project flows and desired outcomes
•    Prioritize EPIC outcomes tracking and report building 
•    Customize the EPIC software to align with organizational goals
•    Ensure regulatory policies and procedures are adhered; Troubleshoot EPIC EMR issues, provide reliable technical expertise.
•    Define and understand the intricate requirements of the application by engaging both clinical and administrative staff members to align with project goals.
•    Configure, implement, and fine-tune Epic modules to ensure they seamlessly align with the established and emerging clinical workflows and priorities of the PCORI HSII grant.
•    Direct the complex process of migrating data from pre-existing systems, ensuring a smooth transition to the Epic platform.
•    Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive training programs tailored for end-users, emphasizing the effective and efficient utilization of the Epic system.
•    Provide robust support for Epic applications, promptly identifying and troubleshooting issues in a real-time setting.
•    Dedicate time to create, update, and sustain user manuals and detailed documentation pertinent to Epic modules.
•    Develop collaborations with the dedicated integration teams, ensuring that Epic modules establish effective communication links and integrate seamlessly with other interconnected hospital systems.
•    Thoroughly test and verify the interfaces, ensuring that Epic interacts flawlessly with other software applications and tools.
•    System Maintenance & Upgrades
•    Cultivate a close working relationship with Epic representatives and the broader hospital IT team. Work in unison to strategically schedule and implement vital system upgrades.
•    Commit to maintaining a deep understanding of periodic Epic system updates and demonstrate agility in ensuring the adaptation of new features in a timely manner.
•    Ensure that the configurations within the Epic system remain compliant with all relevant regulatory standards, including but not limited to HIPAA and Meaningful Use.
•    Design and institute regular audits of system usage and configurations, ensuring adherence to compliance guidelines and striving for continuous optimization.
•    Build and facilitate partnerships with critical stakeholders ensuring that clinical staff, IT departments, and Epic system representatives are aligned with project goals
•    Conduct team meetings, providing comprehensive updates on the system's status, and actively solicit feedback for potential improvements.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science and/or a related field is required. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Epic system implementation, support, and training. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
    Strong background in healthcare information systems with a focus on Epic application implementation, maintenance, and support
    Familiarity with healthcare information systems and pertinent clinical applications
    Strong understanding of clinical workflows and processes.
    Ability to translate clinical requirements into system configurations.
    Outstanding commitment to customer service.
    Stellar communication and people skills.
    The capability to function both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
    A strong dedication to enhancing the standard of patient care.
Preferred:
*Epic certification in relevant modules (e.g., Ambulatory, Inpatient, Beacon, etc.)
