Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry level Learning Spaces Technology Specialist to join Academic Technology, a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

The UFIT Classroom and Learning Spaces Support team is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and support of all technology in 400+ classrooms and learning spaces across campus. This position will install, configure, and support a variety of computer and AV technologies in classrooms and learning spaces. Job duties include both on-site hands-on installation and troubleshooting as well as remote real-time support for faculty.
Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Providing technical support for classroom and learning spaces managed technology
  • Installing and configuring computers, peripherals, and complex audio-visual equipment
  • Troubleshooting complex IT and AV issues

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at a rate of 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status, and are intended to give the flexibility to enable units to close from December 26 to 31 when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$19.16 - $19.88 an hour; commensurate based on education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Relevant technology certifications (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft, Crestron)
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and a service-centric mindset
  • Awareness of current and emerging trends in computing and AV technologies
Special Instructions to Applicants:

After completion of the probationary training period, this person may be scheduled (and should be available to work on) nights, weekends, and/or holidays. The Learning Spaces Technology schedule is highly variable and split between two shifts. The individual will be scheduled for the shift needed.

climbing ladders occasionally, installing computers and TVs, etc.)
