Position Title          Administrative Support                      
Department            Civil Engineering & Construction (CEC) and Center for Emerging Technology in Infrastructure (CETI)
Reports to              CEC Department Chair
Appointment          Full-time; 37 hours per week (12 month position)
Open/Close Date    Friday, June 9th – Friday, June 23, 2017
Application Hours  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 1-4 pm; Thursday and Friday, 9-11 am

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide administrative support to the Civil Engineering & Construction (CEC) and Center for Emerging Technology in Infrastructure (CETI); maintain detailed knowledge base of and support all programs and initiatives and their individual goals; greet visitors, students and employees; receive telephone and email communications, and correspondence; respond to questions and requests; coordinate details, activities and tasks supporting the conferences and programs provided by CETI; schedule appointments; maintain department and student computerized information and records; prepare correspondence, materials, etc.; prepare student payroll; coordinate, train and supervise student employees; maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment; and perform other related duties as assigned. 

In order to meet the needs of the University, the University retains the right to assign duties and requirements to employees as well as determine and change starting times, quitting times and shifts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum three years office or related experience; excellent skills in written, verbal and personal communications; ability to interact effectively by email, phone and in person with diverse groups of people; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; work independently and exhibit sound/accurate judgment; work with sensitive information and records; is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; skill with word processing, spreadsheet and database management applications; editing and proofreading skills; mathematical and problem solving skills; ability to deal with periodic timetable changes; compose correspondence; create computerized reports; handle details and multi-step processes.  This position requires someone who is comfortable with changing work requirements in a dynamic office environment. 

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.  Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust.  Working conditions are typically moderately quiet.
